As you gather with friends and family this Memorial Day weekend, a reminder to be safe, and be kind.
Many think of Memorial Day as the start of summer fun. Don't lose sight of the meaning of the day: to honor and remember those who have died in military service. Memorial Day may be an emotional holiday for some. For others, mental health struggles are an on-going part of life.
This week, our team Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Alaska Behavioral Health has been supporting opportunities for connection, recreation, and community for Alaska's active duty military members and families. These can play a huge role in resilience and overall well-being for service members.
Our clinics will be closed on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.
Help is always available! Call 988 to be connected to local resources.

Anxiety and depression are the most common mental health conditions in the world.
Millions of people navigate them every single day — and the majority improve significantly with the right support.
Symptoms aren't a character flaw. They're a signal worth listening to. 💙

🌿 What if we stopped asking "What's wrong?" and started asking "What happened?"
Join us at the 2026 Alaska Advanced Trauma Training Institute for an experiential plenary with Waldo Winborn, trauma specialist and play therapy supervisor from New Mexico. Waldo will guide us through "What Lives Beneath the Behavior", exploring how survival, nervous system states, and intergenerational patterns shape human behavior, and into "The Stories We Carry", an immersive look at the inherited beliefs and meanings that ripple through generations.
Designed with rural providers in mind, Waldo's sessions offer practical, immediately applicable shifts in perspective for clinicians, educators, and community-based professionals.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is: "Hey — how are you really doing?" Not the quick 'fine, thanks' version. The real one. This week, take a moment to genuinely check in on someone you care about. It might mean more than you know. 🧡

Summer is the perfect time for growth! 🌟 Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for kids and teens is kicking into summer mode, beginning May 26!
This summer, your child can build real coping skills, gain confidence, and connect with peers in a supportive group setting. We offer two age groups, meeting Monday–Thursday from 9:30 AM–12:30 PM, so the afternoons are still free for all the fun summer stuff.
The best part? Kids keep seeing their regular therapist while getting extra support through IOP. It's a team approach built around your child.
