We have just added an in-person Peer Support Specialist training in Ketchikan October 7 - 11!
Peer support training teaches those with a history of substance use or mental illness how to use their experiences to help others. This week-long class qualifies attendees to work as paid peer support specialists and to apply to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist. This training is provided at no cost through support from the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and the State of Alaska Division of Behavioral Health.

Dr. Mia Galioto recently joined our team as a Child & Adult Psychiatrist!
She enjoys working with kids "because they are fun!" The hardest, but most rewarding part is helping their caregivers. After calling Chicago home-base for a while (Go Cubs!), she is happy to be in Alaska. She especially loves winter and cold weather!
Dr. Galioto performs psychiatric evaluations and medication management for both children and adults. She sees a lot of children with ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, PTSD, depression and anxiety. She has immediate openings for new clients and can't wait to serve you!

For more than ten years, Alaska Behavioral Health has hosted the annual Alaska Advanced Trauma Training Institute, featuring local Alaskan and national experts who share the latest research and advances in the neurobiology of traumatic stress, trauma-informed systems, and clinical interventions for complex trauma in children and adults. This high-quality professional development opportunity exists to expand the knowledge of and support the development of trauma-informed care for behavioral health and social service providers across Alaska.
This year, we are pleased to announce an additional opportunity for learning and professional development through our inaugural Alaska Advanced Rural Child Trauma Training Institute. This event will focus on the unique challenges of providing trauma informed care for children living in rural communities such as access, provision of treatment via telehealth, provider training in evidence-based practices, rural engagement, and cultural competency.
This is a one-day training that will be offered in a distance learning format via Zoom.
